I’m Benjamin, a Norfolk craftsman working from my Windiacre workshop near Attleborough. Pub bars, fitted cupboards, restorations and the odd carved spoon or fairy house — if it’s wood, I’ll give it a proper go, built to last with a lot of locally sourced, wind-fallen timber.
Rustic Woodwork
Rustic Woodwork is built on the simple belief that good craftsmanship still matters. I’ve spent more than twenty years working with timber that has a story — wind-fallen Norfolk trees, reclaimed boards, pieces with character that deserve a second life. My workshop at Windiacre, near Attleborough, isn’t a showroom; it’s where the real work happens: sawdust, hand tools and the satisfaction of making something properly.
I create pieces that are meant to be lived with — pub bars, fitted furniture, restorations, and the odd creative project when the wood insists on becoming something unexpected. Whether it’s a kitchen that needs thoughtful fitting, a worktop that needs rescuing, or a one-off piece that doesn’t exist anywhere else, I approach every job the same way: make it solid, make it honest, make it beautiful in a way that feels natural.

From Pub Bars to Fairy Houses
I’ve made everything from giant carved acorns to fitting an awkward nook into a proper cupboard, and resin-filled tables are coming soon. I built the bar for the Mustard Pot in Winburgh, and carved the sign for Spoons Hall — two old-fashioned spoons above their name, exactly as the owners had pictured it. I’m competent at precision cutting in unusual shapes or fine detail, and I take on restoration work too, so whatever the idea, get in touch.

From the Workshop at Windiacre
I’m Benjamin, a Norfolk craftsman who started Rustic Woodwork more than 20 years ago while still teaching GCSE Science to SEN young people. Woodwork began as evenings and weekends, often with my children in tow at craft fairs like the Sheringham Country Fayre. Over time it grew into a proper workshop practice near Attleborough, shaped by curiosity, patience and a love of making things that last.
Along the way I carved a set of six-foot yew roses for Peter Beales, which ended up at the centre of his Chelsea Flower Show display and helped him win a gold medal. I’ve built fairy wands set with precious stones, and fairy houses with stained-glass windows and a joss-stick smoking chimney, and tackled the jobs no one else wanted — like joining two uneven floors with a single piece of timber.
Whether it’s a full oak kitchen, a pub bar, fitted shelving or a creative one-off, I approach every project the same way: listen properly, design carefully, and build something that fits the space — and the person — perfectly.
